The Glass Recycling Company (TGRC) was proud to sponsor the 11th Annual Green Youth Indaba, a platform dedicated to empowering South Africa’s next generation of environmental leaders.

As an organisation committed to advancing a circular economy through responsible glass recycling, TGRC recognises the importance of investing in youth development and environmental education. The Green Youth Indaba provided an opportunity to engage with young people who are passionate about addressing environmental challenges and shaping a more sustainable future.

Representing TGRC at the event, CEO Shabeer Jhetam participated in a panel discussion where he shared insights on the role of glass recycling in South Africa’s circular economy and the opportunities that exist within the recycling value chain. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between industry, government, communities, and young people in driving sustainable environmental outcomes.

The event created a platform for young people to engage directly with industry leaders, exchange ideas, and explore practical solutions to environmental challenges facing South Africa. Through interactive discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, attendees were encouraged to consider how they can contribute to a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.

TGRC’s sponsorship of the event reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that promote environmental awareness, skills development, and sustainable economic opportunities. By partnering with organisations that empower youth, we help create pathways for future leaders to contribute to South Africa’s circular economy and environmental goals.

We extend our gratitude to the organisers of the Green Youth Indaba for creating a platform that inspires action and fosters collaboration between young people, industry, and environmental stakeholders.

Events such as the Green Youth Indaba play an important role in inspiring the next generation of environmental leaders, and TGRC is proud to support initiatives that encourage active participation in building a more sustainable South Africa.

About TGRC:
The Glass Recycling Company (TGRC) consists of a team dedicated to increasing glass recycling in South Africa. We are passionate about ensuring every South African realises the value of recycling glass and actively embraces this practice.

We strive to educate, enable, encourage and inspire individuals to separate their glass for recycling, but do not physically collect or recycle the glass. Our focus extends beyond consumers and communities, but also on trade, industry and corporate South Africa. We also aim to uplift impoverished communities by creating income generating opportunities and skills development in the recycling sector. TGRC is funded by our committed members who manufacture glass or package their products in glass. We believe in the infinite potential of glass to make a real and positive contribution to society. At TGRC we are committed to show that glass recycling is worth the effort!
