Globally, there is an increasing drive towards sustainability imperatives that give businesses the social green light to operate. Businesses are fast adopting ESG principles – ensuring Environmental, Social and Governance measures are in place. However, businesses need to turn ESG theory into real action.
Corporate South Africa needs to work holistically to create a viable green economy which showcases meaningful change moving to measurable value. In an effort to fast-track the conversation and examine tangible sustainability solutions, The Glass Recycling Company (TGRC) joined in and co-sponsored the 2023 Financial Mail Green Economy Conference.
The conference’s theme was “Realising Economic Growth and Competitiveness on the African Continent through Cleaner Industries and Renewable Energy Solutions.” The conference, TGRC participate in a panel discussion with a variety of stakeholders such as Coca-Cola and Heineken to name a few; to discuss promoting investments in the green economy with an emphasis on using eco-friendly local production, EPR regulations, and resource efficiency.
