Wine lovers – Have a recycled bottle for glass
Glass is synonymous with quality and its many characteristics, from the smooth sleek texture to its translucent appearance and cool feel have led to the beautiful packaging becoming iconic for packaging wine.
TGRC’s core objective is to keep glass alive, and the company challenges you to make an effort to recycle this environmentally friendly packaging. Recycling is easy; you don’t have to start big to make an impact. The Glass Recycling Company (TGRC) has a heart for glass and so should you!
Here are some simple tips from TGRC to start your love affair with glass:
- It is easy to recycle glass by taking glass bottles and jars to a ‘glass bank’ in your community. You can find a glass bank on the TGRC website www.tgrc.co.za
Or send an sms with the word ‘glass’ and the name of your suburb to 32310 eg: Glass Fourways
*R1.00 per SMS
- You can often also recycle glass at your local garden refuse site and even certain service stations. Glass bottles and jars, both those used for food and beverages can be recycled.
- In South Africa, it’s not necessary to place different coloured glass into separate banks or remove labels, you also needn’t wash the glass before placing it into glass bank.
- Be sure not to include crystal glasses, Pyrex™, light bulbs, laboratory glass, windshields and window pane glass with your glass recycling as these types of glass have different properties from packaging glass.
