With a fresh year ahead, new goals being set and New Year’s resolutions in full swing by now, why not take the environment and the future of our planet into consideration, by adopting and implementing ‘green’ behaviors during 2020.
Our glass recycling rate in South Africa has gradually increased over the years and is now at an impressive 42%. However, we still have a lot of room for growth. The Glass Recycling Company (TGRC) is calling on all South Africans to adopt and commit to recycling behaviors that will further increase local glass recycling rates.
If you are a parent with little ones, consider making your trip to the glass bank (where you recycle all your glass bottles and jars) a fun learning experience, to teach the little ones about looking after the environment. Instilling green behaviors in the youth ensures that they carry these habits with them into adulthood.
A simple green resolution to carry with you throughout the year is ‘responsible shopping’. Make sure you continue to make environmentally friendly purchasing decisions by shopping for products in recyclable packaging or packaged in glass – glass is one of the few packaging that can indefinitely be recycled and with your help, won’t end up in a landfill.
